Our Story
Masjid Fatima Az Zahra stands on Kal 1 Drive in Lower Allen Town, on the eastern side of Freetown. It was built in 2022, in the hard years after the COVID-19 pandemic, and was formally inaugurated on 8 March 2024.
The masjid is named in honour of Fatima az-Zahra, may Allah be pleased with her, the beloved daughter of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. By the help of Allah it has become a home for the five daily prayers, the Friday Jumu'ah, Quran classes and community gatherings for the people of Allen Town and everyone passing through.
"Whoever purifies himself in his house, then walks to one of the houses of Allah to perform an obligatory prayer, one of his steps will wipe out a sin and the other will raise him a degree." The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ — Sahih Muslim 666
From a promise to a masjid
Working at the mine sites in Kono District, our founder made a promise to Allah: if He blessed him, he would build a house for His sake.
Amid the challenges that followed the pandemic, and with the help of good people around him, the masjid was built in Allen Town.
Masjid Fatima Az Zahra was formally opened to the community, as recorded on the board at its gate.
Five daily congregations, the Jumu'ah khutbah, daily Quran classes and large community gatherings for knowledge and reminders.
The lower floors are planned for Quranic education, giving children and students a place to learn and memorise the Qur'an.
Fatima was the youngest daughter of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and Khadijah, may Allah be pleased with them both. She was the wife of 'Ali ibn Abi Talib and the mother of al-Hasan and al-Husayn. She was known as az-Zahra, "the radiant one", for her character, her worship and her patience through hardship.

What we stand for
Calling to the worship of Allah alone, upon the Qur'an and the Sunnah.
Keeping the doors open for all five prayers and the Friday Jumu'ah, on time, every day.
Daily Quran classes now, and a dedicated Quran school on the lower floors, inshaAllah.
Improving individuals and society in Allen Town through knowledge, unity and service.
In his own words
Almost twenty years ago, when I was struggling at the mine sites in Kono, I made a promise to Allah. I always said to myself: Allah, if You bless me, I will build a house for Your sake. In 2022 Allah answered my prayers, and I said to myself, this is the time to fulfil my promise to Allah.
Alhamdulillah, I was fortunate to have good people around me who inspired me to achieve this wonderful project. May Allah reward all those who supported me — physically, emotionally and financially — in this world and the hereafter.
